This step in my natural skin care journey was probably the scariest for me because it involved "oils". As one with blemish-prone, combo/oily skin, I always made sure that products were "oil-free". Yet here I was contemplating putting oil on my face! However, after tons of research and seeing amazing results on one of my favorite YouTube "gurus", I decided to take the plunge. And now, 8 months later, I would say that I'm an "oil junkie" :-) Instead of the oils making my combo skin more oily, they have conversely helped balance my skin and now I find my skin rarely needs blotting in the middle of the day! I've also noticed a reduction in fine lines and more even skin tone. In order to make your own moisturizer/serum, you will need one or two "carrier oils" and then 1-3 "essential oils". The great thing about concocting your own moisturizer is you get to choose the ingredients and tailor them to suit your skin...

Wintertime Spice Tea Recipe

All across the country temperatures are falling along with the first snow of the season (oh how I miss that white fluffy stuff!). This is by far my favorite time of the year because it means enjoying many of my favorite things . . . beautiful sparkling snow, corduroy pants, turtleneck sweaters, down jackets, a warm crackling fire and sipping a mug of a hot, yummy beverage. So, as a salute to "Winter" , I decided to share a recipe for one of my favorite hot beverages. It's not only great to have on hand at home but also is great for gift giving! About 2 years ago, I purchased a recipe book called "Cornerstone Cooks in Casper". It's a compilation of tried and true recipes that my cousin's church put together and I have to say they have some GREAT cooks in their church! The first recipe that my cousin said I HAD to try was for Caramel Dream Bars . I decided to make them for a party the first time and they were a HUGE hit! Since then, I've made them on numerous occasions and am always asked for the recipe. So, if you want a delectable, chewy, caramel, chocolate treat with a little bit of crunch, these bars are meant for you! Caramel Dream Bars Ingredients: 64 caramels, unwrapped** 1/2 c. plus 2 T. heavy whipping cream 2 c. all purpose flour 1 1/2 c. packed brown sugar 2 c. oats 1 tsp. baking soda 1 1/2 c. butter, melted 1 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips 1 c. chopped walnuts or pecans (Walnuts are my favorite in this recipe) Directions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
