Wintertime Spice Tea Recipe

All across the country temperatures are falling along with the first snow of the season (oh how I miss that white fluffy stuff!). This is by far my favorite time of the year because it means enjoying many of my favorite things . . . beautiful sparkling snow, corduroy pants, turtleneck sweaters, down jackets, a warm crackling fire and sipping a mug of a hot, yummy beverage. So, as a salute to "Winter" , I decided to share a recipe for one of my favorite hot beverages. It's not only great to have on hand at home but also is great for gift giving! About 2 years ago, I purchased a recipe book called "Cornerstone Cooks in Casper". It's a compilation of tried and true recipes that my cousin's church put together and I have to say they have some GREAT cooks in their church! The first recipe that my cousin said I HAD to try was for Caramel Dream Bars . I decided to make them for a party the first time and they were a HUGE hit! Since then, I've made them on numerous occasions and am always asked for the recipe. So, if you want a delectable, chewy, caramel, chocolate treat with a little bit of crunch, these bars are meant for you! Caramel Dream Bars Ingredients: 64 caramels, unwrapped** 1/2 c. plus 2 T. heavy whipping cream 2 c. all purpose flour 1 1/2 c. packed brown sugar 2 c. oats 1 tsp. baking soda 1 1/2 c. butter, melted 1 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips 1 c. chopped walnuts or pecans (Walnuts are my favorite in this recipe) Directions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spiced Pecans

One of my favorite snacks anytime of year are nuts. Add a sugary, spiced coating and I'm in heaven! This recipe was given to me by another good friend, Patsy W. She is a wonderful cook and baker and loves easy recipes. When I told her I was looking for an easy nut mix recipe, she gave this one to me, promising it would not let me down. And she was right! The amazing thing is there is no oil or butter in this recipe! And, if you don't like pecans, it works great with other nuts too. Ingredients: 3 1/2 cups raw pecans (or nut of your choice) 3/4 - 1 cup sugar (I use a full cup as I like my nuts on the sweeter side :-) 3 T water 1 egg white 2 tsp cinnamon 1 tsp salt 3/4 tsp cloves 1/2 tsp allspice 1/4 tsp nutmeg Directions: *Combine all ingredients except pecans in a large bowl; mix well. Add the pecans and stir well to coat. Spread on greased baking sheet. *Bake at 250 degrees F for 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes....
